Frequently Asked Questions
1. How does an RO system work?
The sediment filter removes suspended matter like
dirt, rust and sand. The 2 carbon filters remove
chlorine, metals, chemicals and other tastes and
odors causing impurities. The RO membrane removes
(rejects) 98% of all the dissolved solids that remain
in the water.
2. What happens to the
impurities that were in the water?
The filters capture a good deal of them and the
rest are washed down the drain by the
RO membrane. The RO membrane is self-cleaning
and can last 3-5 years with proper filter maintenance.
3. What kind of maintenance is involved with
my system?
The filters in stage 1, 2 and 3 must be changed
every 6 months. This is a simple 10-minute procedure
and the filters can be purchased by calling our
toll free number 1-866-225-4026 or on-line here.
If this sounds too involved we can recommend a local
plumber that can change the filters for a small
fee.
4. How difficult is this system to install?
The average handy homeowner can install this system
in about 1-2 hours following the step-by-step instructions
provided. If this sounds too difficult we can recommend
a local plumber to do the installation for a small
fee.
5. I have a water softener; doesn't this treat
my drinking water?
A water softener is good for the home's plumbing
and appliances but does not do any filtration of
the water. The RO system will work well in conjunction
with the softener to filter out impurities and bad
tastes for drinking and cooking.
6. Does the unit have to be mounted under the
kitchen sink?
No. The unit can be located in another cabinet in
the kitchen or even in the basement or garage.
7. Does this unit produce as good tasting water
as the bottled water I have delivered or buy at
the store?
Yes. This unit uses the same process bottled water
companies use to make bottled water.
8. I have a pitcher filtration system, how is
this system different?
Those systems use a small carbon filter that simply
absorbs chlorine, taste and odor. Our system has
10 x the carbon for absorption, a sediment filter
and a membrane. There is simply no comparison between
the two systems.
9. This system seems very expensive?
With the amount of water that this system produces
it works out to .02¢ per liter.
10. Can this system tie into my automatic icemaker?
Absolutely. We recommend it for better tasting and
harder ice. It takes an additional
fitting and tubing and a fitting. You can run 40-50
feet if needed.
11. How big is the system?
The dimensions are as follows: The RO module is
15" tall x 16" wide x 5" deep. The
storage tank is 11" diameter x 16" tall.
Either or both can be remote located.
